Epithelial-Myoepithelial Carcinoma of Salivary Gland

Abstract

|
The salivary epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma is a distinctive, biologically low-grade carcinoma with a predilection for the parotid gland. Since Corridan's first description of a clear cell epithelial tumor, analogous cases in the literature
have
been described under a variety of names, including tubular solid adenoma, clear cell adenoma, and myoepithelioma.
We report a case of epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma with immunohistochemical and electronmicroscopic studies supporting myoepithelial nature of tumor cells. We also discuss differential points between other clear cell neoplasm of the salivary
glands.
